Booking widget for the Iloranta resort website
A standalone web application for choosing and booking accommodation, installed with one line of code
Task
book rooms and cottages in one window on any website
The client needed a guest-facing front end that:
- does not depend on the main website's code;
- integrates easily into any platform;
- scales without infrastructure limits;
- handles different accommodation types equally well, from hotel rooms to cottages with their own booking logic.
Solution
a widget with its own JS API on top of the SpringPMS server API
The interface is a booking widget: a separate web application independent of the site structure. It is installed with a single line of code at the end of the page, like an analytics tag: the script loads the functionality asynchronously, mounts it into the DOM and does not slow the site down.
The widget supports different logic per accommodation type: classic date-based room booking against available inventory for hotels, and a chessboard with custom check-in and pricing scenarios for cottages. Live data comes from the shared SpringPMS server API.
The widget has its own JS API and reacts to events from the host site:
- open the booking panel on click;
- pass promo data or campaign parameters;
- pre-fill the form when the visitor arrives via a promo link.
